Presenter Bio Hanna Walton

Hanna Walton is a horse development specialist, clinician, and eventer who is dedicated to empowering riders to become their horse’s trainer, mentor, and partner.

Hanna emphasizes the importance of regulating the horse’s nervous system and fostering relaxation, enabling them to become confident, connected learners before focusing on physical strength and responsiveness. Hanna teaches riders to interpret their horses' behaviours as crucial feedback, helping to uncover communication issues, lack of motivation, or potential discomfort.

Based in Oxfordshire, UK, Hanna and her partner Matt conduct horsemanship clinics and create online content for "Confident and Connected," a complete online foundation program designed to empower horse owners to develop their own ‘perfect all-rounder’ by being able to work through every stage in their horses foundation at home. They also run a successful training barn that promotes the physical and psychological growth of horses at every stage, from young horses to be started to top-level competitors across all disciplines.

Because Of The Horse...

I have had the opportunity to face my toughest life lessons; fear of failure, pressure, self-doubt. Horses invite us unknowingly to look in the mirror and face our biggest blockers. If we do so, we continue to grow. I am proud of the horsewoman I have become, yet remain deeply humbled by how much more there is to learn.

DAY 1

My Go-To Exercise to Reconnect with Your Horse - Hanna Walton Confident and Connected - Matt Feerick

If you could choose just one exercise to bring your horse back to you—body and mind—this is it. Learn the rib release, a powerful technique to transition your horse out of fight, flight, or freeze and into a calm, connected state. Reconnecting your horse to their body is the first step in building a partnership rooted in trust and relaxation. Perfect for creating a solid foundation for any training journey.

DAY 2

Unlocking Your Horse’s Confidence: Teach Them to Own It, Not Borrow Yours : Video 2

Confidence is more than helping your horse feel safe—it’s about teaching them to navigate challenges independently without relying on you to manage every moment. In this video, we explore how to set up three key exercises, helping your horse learn to think through situations and build self-reliance. By fostering independence and reducing stress, you’ll create a brave, confident partner ready to face the world with you. This is the 2nd of a 3 part video series.

The One Thing Most Horses Are Missing: Free and Forward Movement - Video 3

The foundation of a responsive horse is understanding free and forward movement—something often overlooked in training. In this video, we’ll guide you through exercises that teach your horse to think forward, stay responsive, and maintain their gait without unnecessary reliance on the reins. By addressing this critical gap, you’ll not only transform your riding but also lay the groundwork for bridleless riding, creating a partnership built on trust and freedom. This is the 3rd of a 3 part video series.
